King of the Hill–or Rusty

DSC05375

I took this a couple of weeks ago through the back door (hence the poor quality).  Rusty, the big one asleep, has got to be one of the coolest dogs in the world.  About as laid back as you can imagine.  I have similar pictures somewhere with the kids riding on his back.  He just takes it.  Should he become tired of their playing on him he simply gets up and walks away.

Abbey was Zoe’s birthday gift back in January.  (Because with 5 kids, a dog, 3 cats and the hordes of birds I feed I didn’t quite have enough to do.)

Abbey is a bit high strung, as puppies go, and has essentially quarantined poor Zia to the indoors. Not necessarily a bad thing when it’s so cold out, but it’s going to get warmer some day.  Abbey likes to nip, as puppies do, when she says hello and Zia does not appreciate that as an acceptable form of communication.

Anyway, just thought it was pretty funny to watch Abbey climb all over poor Rusty and he never even budged.

We have two dogs, one quite old, and the other only 2. With ours, there isn’t much of a size difference, though. But as far as activity level goes, yeah, the youngest one is a bundle of energy. Shadow, my oldest, just watches him zoom around . . . I imagine her laughing at the craziness of youth . . .

(Ed, not sure if you got my email . . . you picked a number that has already been chosen. So feel free to stop over and pick another one . . . )

Rusty is awesome and Abbie is a little cutie! But I hope she settles down a bit so that Zia can enjoy her summer outside.

SuperMegaDad–Rusty is one of a kind. Best Dog–EVER!!

tysdaddy–Rusty was just like Abbey–about 6 years ago. The kids don’t remember that, though.

Mel–She’s getting there. I think winter was the perfect time to get her so she’ll be a bit more calm come spring.

Kinda reminds me of my husband when the girls crawl all over him ;-)

Yeah, I definitely saw Rusty on an episode of Lost. You hiding a Smoke Monster there as well?

Whit–You should see Rusty in the summer. We shave him and he looks like a greyhound.

    amy–He must be very patient.

    James–It’s a lot of fur…anything is possible.

AW….. what a cute shot! They look like dad and kid. Can’t you relate?

Holy cow… what a beast! I’m with Whit. For the last few I’ve seen this on my feeder and thought it was polar bears chewing on a seal carcass or something. I’m glad to see it’s just your dogs. ;b

Maureen–He snaps at her sometimes like I do my kids, so I guess there is a similarity.

Jeff–The only carcass these yay-hoots know how to chew is a shoe left unattended outside.

Did you say dog? Looks more like a cross between a sheep and a mountain goat to me!
