My Blog Hates Me!
My blog has turned against me, for no good reason. In fact, there’s no reason at all but it has certainly turned.
Last week I posted an entry about Zoë yelling at a note Maura had left for her about checking homework. Here’s and excerpt:
*Make Sure Zoë Corrects Her Homework, Love Maura
With school officially back in full swing, we are finally settling into someroutines. Namely, homework routines. To say it’s been a struggle toget Zoë to buckle down and focus on her work would be a grossunderstatement. She has issues with focus. Some things she just feelsare
Several of you commented (which is always appreciated) and all was well with the world. Until yesterday.
I noticed yesterday that the entry had somehow disappeared from my blog. It’s gone. No draft, no trace of the comments. Nothing. It just vanished. I’m kind of bummed about it but what do you do? There are worse tragedies, though I’d love to have it back.
So I’ve got a request to any of you who may have a copy of that post (for whatever reason). Maybe it’s in your reader or perhaps you receive my posts via e-mail. If you have a copy would you please e-mail it to me?
I would forever be in your debt. OK, so not really forever. I could probably just rewrite the thing and file it back away myself but I’m too lazy.
I would be most appreciative, though.
Post Edit:
My brother had a copy!! I reposted the entry on the correct date. Unfortunately any comments that were left have been lost–but not forgotten. Thanks, Uncle Muncle.

Glad you found it. I looked in my Reader, but your posts are truncated there, so I only had the first few sentences.
Blogs in general have been acting weird lately. Just the other day, I started getting email regarding replies in a different format. Got to digging around and found that a box had been checked that I don’t remember checking. Odd . . .
Or, I was editing my blog in my sleep. Which would be really scary . . .
I’m sure I commented on that one. I remember it distinctly…
but why was your post removed from there?
Sorry Ed… I was just trying to prove a point that you should publish full posts in your feeds. I was wrong to hack into your blog and delete that post, and for that I apologize.
Jeff, you are actually the first person I thought of when it happened. I pictured you standing there, arms crossed, shaking your head and saying, “I told you so!”
Данная публикация очень информативна, большая благодарность Вам!
That’s why I normally write my blog posts offline and save it on my hard disk. Only then do I copy/paste it and publish it to my blog.
Unfortunately, this does not help with lost comments.
Those who use self-hosted WordPress blogs can use a plug-in called wp-db-backup to back up their wordpress databases every week. Although there is still the problem of restoring the database image when something goes wrong (if you are not a techie).
Undoubtedly, other self-hosted blog software have similar features or additional plug-ins that can help. And if you are paying for a blog service like LiveJournal, you should be able to send a support ticket to their helpdesk and ask for help.
Excellent advice—thanks.
