It Would Have Been Altruistic If I Hadn’t Taken a Photo — Or Posted It.

Karma

I thought I might spread a little bit of good karma. You know, do something altruistic.

I only needed an hour.

I paid for 5.

So that the person happening upon the spot after I had left it might have a little gift.  A little something to make their day just a tad brighter.

I guess snapping a picture and broadcasting my intentions pretty much eliminated any altruistic benefits from the gesture.

Maybe the karma will stick.

share. peace.

I love doing that. And just going around to meters that are almost out of time and putting money in them.

A good deed! I usually don’t have change for such.

The last time I sent my wife to put money in a parking meter she paid twice – the meter was limited to just one hour, it said so in big letters, “Parking limited to one hour” it said, which I thought was fairly clear – but she put double the amount required in the hope that she’d get two hours – she didn’t because parking was limited to one hour (remember how I mentioned that int he same sentence ?)

And then she got annoyed at me when I pointed it out to her.

All I can do is chuckle. Because that is really funny.

That is awfully nice of you. What I want to know is how you had enough change to do that, when I can’t even scrape together enough money for 15 minutes.

Well, it was a meter in Delaware. 25 cents got you an hour. I couldn’t have done it had I been downtown Columbus.

You made somebody happy. Just imagine it was a nun or a worker at a soup kitchen and not some jerk in his Lexus SUV.

I’d like to think it was someone that would at least appreciate the gesture.

I am always a little brighter when I happen upon a spot like that , you probably made someone’s day. Even if you did take a picture of it!
I used to put money in expired meters for people as I was walking down the street but a parking meter reader threatened to write me a ticket for it. Apparently, it’s illegal to plug someone else’s meter, likely because the city loses on ticket income. Who knew?
